Fire Ravages Adams Feed Mill

Fire has destroyed the feed mill at the Farmers Cooperative Company in Adams. No one was injured in the blaze.

Mike Klein is assistant chief of the Adams Volunteer Fire Department. He says firefighters from Adams, Cortland, Filley, Firth, Sterling and Tecumseh helped fight the fire, which started yesterday afternoon. The fire was under control by 9 p.m.

Klein says a coop employee noticed the fire around 5 p.m.

Klein says after calling the fire department, the employee and a community member drove a burning feed truck from the building.

Officials from Farmers Cooperative Company, based in Waverly, declined to comment.

In addition to destroying the feed mill, the fire also damaged two silos adjacent to the mill.

Klein says neither the cause nor the monetary loss in known.
