A Cheyenne, Wyoming, businessman has filed a foreclosure notice on Kearney's Tri-City Arena.

Area manager Bob McBride confirmed Tuesday that the notice was filed Friday by Joel Wiens, who does business as FirsTier Capital Corporation.

Wiens loaned a group of Kearney investors about $6 million to help the struggling arena about three years ago.

The $10.5 million arena opened in November 2000 and has been home to the Tri-City Storm amateur hockey team and Tri-City Diesel arena football team.

McBride says the foreclosure action is not expected to immediately affect the arena's schedule of events.
