Lincoln Police have a man in custody after a brief standoff in the Capital City.
Police found a man they were looking for Friday afternoon near 9th Street and Butler Avenue.
According to 10/11's Chad Silber, the situation began when a missing persons report was filed for a man that was believed to have taken some medication and wandered off.
The Lincoln Police Department says they were concerned the man would have been a threat to himself or others. They say they received reports that the man wanted to harm himself. LPD searched for the man for hours this afternoon and around 8:30pm learned he was at a home in the 900 block of Butler Avenue.
When police arrived, the man refused to come out. After 30 - 45 minutes Captain Anthony Butler with LPD says the man came out through the back door of the home. Police say he was then taken into custody to be checked out.
Captain Butler stresses that the man is not under arrest at this point, officials are simply conducting a mental health check.
