Lincoln's entertainment facilities aren't cutting it; this according to a report released Thursday by city business leaders who say we need a new convention center and arena.
With all of the big entertainment acts Omaha's Qwest Center is getting, area business leaders believe Lincoln should be able to compete for those attractions.
The Pershing Auditorium is said to be inadequate in size and set up. Business leaders say the city is losing business because it can't attract sizeable events to meet the needs of Lincoln's residents.
Pershing Auditorium's Tom Lorenz says, "There is a piece of that to be had for Lincoln. If we don't do something soon, we'll miss out on that."
The study was conducted by "Convention Sports & Leisure".
City business leaders are expecting another report in June, which should detail the cost and possible locations for new arena.
