Grand Island Senior High has added another day to its school week. Principal Dr. Kent Mann says the extra day is for those students who fall behind in classes academically or are close to failing. Mann says the Saturday school is also for those students who missed excessive days or were tardy too many times.

The Saturday School works like this. A student is assigned to the extra day which is mandatory. For the class the student is having problems in, the teacher will create a packet for the student. The student will then do the work and on Monday, the teacher will grade the packet, and the student will receive credit for the work. Mann says, "Great benefit is they pass the class."

The Saturday school is scheduled to start in September of the upcoming school year.
