Lincoln Police say a man in custody is suspected of manufacturing methamphetamine in his apartment at 4633 Baldwin Avenue.
Police say 40 year old Jesse Bennett of Lincoln was arrested outside his apartment Friday night on unrelated felony charges. During the arrest, officers noticed a chemical smell coming from Bennett's apartment and obtained a search warrant. Investigators found items consistent with an active meth lab.
Officers evacuated the apartment building Friday evening and asked some residents to voluntarily leave the premises for the evening for their own safety.
Police say narcotics charges have not been brought at this time.
Police say Bennett was arrested for events that occurred Nov. 25 in the 4600 block of Huntington Avenue. He was charged with strangulation and making terroristic threats.
