A 21-year-old Lincoln man has been found guilty by a Lancaster County jury of child abuse causing the death of his infant daughter in 2001.
Terrell Henderson could receive up to life in prison at sentencing scheduled for Aug. 19.
Jurors began hearing testimony in the trial May 11th. They reached their verdict Thursday.
Police were summoned to the northeast Lincoln home Henderson shared with his mother, grandmother and siblings early on Dec. 17, 2001. Inside they found Henderson's ten-week-old daughter, Iycis Henderson, seemingly lifeless on a bed on the first floor.
The child was pronounced dead at Lincoln hospital several hours later.
Henderson was not arrested until 2002.
Prosecutors had said the night the baby was fatally injured Henderson was along with the baby in his basement. Medical testimony showed the baby had been shaken violently and her head slammed against a hard surface.
