Building Concerns

There is new information regarding the tragic death of a third grader in Crete. Alexa Foster died when a concrete block wall in a public bathroom in Crete's Tuxedo Park Collapsed. Crete Parks and Rec officials say the bathroom was inspected before it was opened this year. The building is more than 40 years old.

Some residents think the city needs to take a close look at how city buildings are maintained. Kristie Poteet of Crete says, "The neighbors I've talked with are concerned who's going to step up to the plate. Who's going to take responsibility? Maybe there needs to be more attention paid to the buildings, more supervision for the kids down there."

Following Wednesday's tragedy city officials say they inspected local buildings. We're told Crete is hiring licensed engineers who will survey area buildings next week.
