Praise for the new president of the University of Nebraska J.B. Milliken is coming fast today (Saturday).
Senator Ben Nelson says Milliken will be a strong and effective advocate for the university. Nelson says Milliken will work tirelessly in the job.
The 47-year-old Milliken is a Fremont native and a graduate of UNL. He was selected Saturday by the Board of Regents to take over as president on August 1st. He has spent the past six years working at the University of North Carolina.
Molly Broad, president of UNC, says Milliken will be missed. She says he has been successful in building and strengthening the statewide and federal government relations infrastructure of the university.
She says his departure is a loss to the entire state of North Carolina. She says Nebraska should consider itself extremely fortunate to have lured him back home.
