The annual tree-lighting ceremony at the Capitol in Lincoln takes place Sunday and will include a carol sing-along.
State officials say the event will get under way at the 22-foot-tall blue spruce around 2 p.m. Sunday. The Union College Brass Union will play holiday music.
Gov. Dave Heineman is scheduled to share his holiday message after songs by the Lincoln Public Schools All City Girls Choir and Norris School District Gold Show Choir.
Then the governor and his wife, Sally Ganem, will throw the light switch, followed by a carol sing-along.
The tree will be taken down Dec. 29.
