Nebraska's troubled Beatrice State Developmental Center is no longer on state probation.
The action state regulators took Monday suggests the center for the developmentally disabled has improved since an 18-year-old died at the center after receiving what state officials have acknowledged was inadequate care.
In January, the state moved 47 residents considered medically fragile out of the Beatrice center because officials decided the center couldn't adequately care for them.
The Beatrice center has faced hundreds of allegations of abuse and neglect in recent years, and the center lost its Medicaid certification in September.
State officials hope to be regain federal certification by 2011.
