Lincoln's Cornhusker Hotel has been sold.

Hotel General Manager Jerry Barnes confirms the sale became final at midnight and an official announcement was expected Friday.

But he says he has lost his job and there would be other changes is staffing. He says contracts will be signed today.

Former owner is Murdock Hotels. Barnes says the buyer is Shubh Hotels Boca LLC. Shubh is known for buying restaurant and hotel properties, renovating them and selling them for a profit.

The company's website says hotel purchases have included Double Tree, Sheraton, Hilton and Holiday Inn locations.

The modern Cornhusker Hotel opened in downtown Lincoln in 1983. It was built on the site of the original hotel, which opened in 1926.

Terms of the sale were not available. Officials from Murdock or Shubh hotels were not immediately available for comment.
