Police have arrested the daughter and granddaughter of a 77 year old woman for abuse after they failed to call for medical help after she broke her hip.
Sgt. Don Scheinost said Betty Wickline fell down January 3. Her daughter Sheryl Dunn, her granddaughter Francis Wilson and Jonathan Wilson helped her into bed at that time and tried to take care of her from home.
Court documents show they only fed Wickline chicken broth because she would get sick with solid foods. Documents also show they never helped her to the bathroom and Wickline was was stuck in bed because of the fall..
The group finally called for medical assistance January 11. When paramedics arrived court documents show they found her laying in filth with an obvious broken hip. An affidavit states she may have to have the leg amputated. All three individuals were arrested Monday for felony vulnerable adult abuse.
Dunn told police she didn't seek help because her mother wanted to die at home. The Wilsons say it was because Wickline was uninsured.
