Howard County Sheriff Troy Kaiser is standing trial this week on a charge of making terrorist threats.
(Monday, a jury was selected to decide the case.
Kaiser is accused of threatening another man at a March 2003 dance at Grand Island's Fonner Park.
Grand Island police have said the incident involved alcohol and a woman.
If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison, a ten-thousand dollar fine and lose his law enforcement certification.
An attempt last fall to gather enough signatures to hold a recall election for Kaiser failed.
