Lincoln Man Arrested In La Vista Internet Sting

A Lincoln man was arrested Monday in La Vista for allegedly using his computer to sexually prey upon on undercover detectives posing as children on the Internet.

Fifty-year-old Bradley Lechner faces felony charges of sexual assault and enticement by electronic communication device. If found guilty, he could be sentenced to anywhere from three to 50 years on the assault charge and up to five years on the enticement charge.

Police say Lechner traveled to La Vista to meet up for sex with one of the detectives who he believed was a 15-year-old girl waiting at the La Vista Community Center.

"I think it shows the predatory type of person,” said La Vista Police Chief Bob Lausten. "It ups the ante a little bit when you have people that travel that are going to travel a distance to hook up with underage kids."

The department’s Internet Crime Unit has been reeling in alleged predators for years. They used to worry about overexposure, but the arrests keep coming. Lechner was arrested by officers during a traffic stop and was booked at the Sarpy County Jail.

Investigators realized there was more than one case file concerning Lechner, who was also allegedly carrying on a conversation with someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl who turned out to be a police officer as well.

"He's conversing with multiple kids and that kind of proves a point that the predators are out there and they're not just talking to undercover police officers, they're talking to 14 and 15 and even 13-year-old kids that are out there,” said Chief Lausten.

Lechner is an active duty member of the Nebraska Army National Guard and stationed in Lincoln. The military’s Office of Special Investigation has been notified and are assisting in the investigation.

A search warrant was served at Lechner’s residence where detectives recovered electronic equipment. A forensic examination of the recovered property will be conducted.
