The Nebraska Department of Revenue says the state will NOT be increasing its tax on motor fuel for the next six months.

The tax will remain at $0.248 a gallon through the end of the year.

The fuel tax is set by the Department of Roads to ensure adequate funding for highway projects, including maintenance and improvement.

The gas tax was last increased January 1 from $0.246 to $0.248.

The state tax is reviewed twice a year and if necessary, adjusted to maintain a certain level of funding for state roads projects.
