Strong Thunderstorms

A line of severe thunderstorms pushing their way through Nebraska Tuesday night, dropping heavy rain and golf-ball sized hail on the North Platte area.

The National Weather Service says nearly 2.5 inches of rain fell in North Platte. Strong winds, with gusts of up to forty miles per hour were reported in Lincoln County.

Quarter sized hail was reported in Perkins County, eight miles north of Madrid.

With the weather came flooding streets in North Platte, as the rain was falling about an inch an hour. Some cars stalled as water rose to the curbs.
