Police say a man attacked three others with an Asp baton and a gun after a road rage incident.

Officer Katie Flood said officers responded to an assault at 1:49 am Thursday at 2805 Fletcher Ave.

Flood said two 22 year old men and a 22 yar old woman told officers that they were attacked and threatened by someone after a road rage incident.

Flood said the men were driving near 27th and Superior when they saw the suspect, later identified as 24 year old James Schwartztrauber, driving erratically. Flood said one of the men flipped him off and that set him off. Flood said Schwartztrauber followed the men to their apartment complex and when he got out he hit one of the men with a retractable steel baton called an Asp.

Flood said he also got a gun out of his truck and threatened the other two men before leaving.
A police officer spotted the truck at about 2:00 am and pulled Schwartztrauber over near 9th and Adams. He was identified as the attacker and the officer found a pellet gun and the baton inside the truck.

Schwartztrauber was arrested for two counts of terroristic threats, 2nd degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.

Agreed Bill. Why didn't James get their license plate and call it in instead of following them? He knew exactly what he was doing, if the other guys rushed the car why didn't he pull the gun first thing rather than aggravating the situation even more? He had time to hit one with the baton then run back and get the gun. Sounds like whatever story Samantha got has some holes.

Boy are most of you posters daft!! Who cares if you get flipped off, it is not an excuse to go off the deep end. You posters must be pretty insecure dolts to defend this idiot. He should be sent to prison before he really hurts someone.

Maybe we should all wait for the whole story to come out. Like the fact that the ones that were followed home, not only were flipping the others off, they threw something out of the car at them. And then when he followed them to find out where to send the cops, they rushed his truck, he did get out, and no, i'm probably only getting half of each side of the story, but don't believe everything you hear and read cause there is usually two sides to each story. And it wasn't a real gun, it was a pellet gun, which doesn't make it any better, but he wasn't trying to kill anyone.

Maybe the idiot that gave the guy the bird has learned his lesson and will not be so brave to give the bird next time. Ya just never know who's got a gun, or who you're going to run into. And maybe the guy that was driving stupid has also learned something as well. Everyone just needs to grow up a bit.

I know this suspect's family. They are nice people who need support right now. No matter how we raise our children, we can never predict how they'll act as adults. Sending them best wishes and hoping something good comes of this.

Far too many people these days are feeling it is allowable to follow others to their destinations and threaten or intimidate them. Two of my daughters and I have all been followed so an "offended" person could yell at or threaten us. The middle-aged man who chased me to my Dr.s office yelled at me for "spraying water" on him when I passed him in the rain. My daughter was chased to Target where an angry (once again, middle-aged) man screamed at her because she passed him. These psychos need to be off the road and in counseling.

Mel, you have it wrong. "The Flipper" didn't follow anyone home. The person who was flipped off followed the other men home. Read more carefully.... "Flood said the men were driving near 27th and Superior when they saw the suspect, later identified as 24 year old James Schwartztrauber, driving erratically. Flood said one of the men flipped him off and that set him off. Flood said Schwartztrauber followed the men to their apartment complex and when he got out he hit one of the men with a retractable steel baton called an Asp."

maybe you shouldn't give a total stranger the bird. There are a lot of crazies out there. These people were lucky he didn't have a gun.

The two people that were assulted shouldn't have followed "The Flipper" home...I'm sure "The Flipper" was protecting himself & a little scared these people were going to do something to him. I'd be scared if someone went out of their way to see where I lived & followed me.
