Patricia Starr has three words that she lives by...dream, believe and achieve and her goal is to inspire others to live the same way.

Patricia's tireless efforts have been recognized as she is this year's Ambassador Award winner.

Patricia has two great passions in her life...music and biking. And 6 years ago, she started using her pedal power to raise money for music scholarships. At age 67, she made her first ride across America to fund a scholarship in Santa Barbara, California where she taught music for many years.

Then in 2008, at the age of 71, Patricia again hit the road to raise money for a music scholarship at her alma mater, Wahoo High School. Her 1,400 mile journey ended up in Atlantic City where she represented Nebraska in the Ms. Senior America contest.

She hopes that her accomplishments motivate others, "Most people just need some little something to get them going and I think that I can be that spark. Just the fact that I've riden 5,000 miles since I was age 67 and also raised $35,000 for music scholarships, I just want to turn people's minds on that they can do something too."

It was only fitting that Patricia received her award on the same night that she watched an outstanding performance by a bunch of talented young Nebraska women basketball players as they competed against Oklahoma State, "This is probably the cherry on the top right here to be awarded an ambassadorship because this means that somebody is looking up to you for the things that you stand for. "

The mayor of Wahoo is proud of Patricia. Jerry Johnson says, "She's been an ambassador to the community of Wahoo, the school system for music education. She's represented Nebraska very well in her travels."

Patricia is a great musician, friend, and example in life, and not a stranger to anyone.
