Congressman Tom Osborne joined anti-gambling efforts in Nebraska Monday.
He is featured in 30 second radio and television ads that will air beginning this week and run until July 2 in which he urges voters not to sign any gambling petitions and to vote no on all expanded gambling measures in November.
At a news conference with the anti-gambling group, Gambling with the Good Life, Osborne said casino gambling hurts families of compulsive gamblers and funnels gambling proceeds to large companies oustide the state.
Osborne says he cannot be part of the campaign after July 2 because of new rules under campaign finance reform. Osborne's wife, Nancy, will headline the anti-gambling campaign from that point on.
Mrs. Osborne and Gambling with the Good Life representatives plan to hold news conference Monday in Lincoln, Grand Island, North Platte and Scottsbluff.
