Plans for the Heartland Events Center in Grand Island are making firm progress.

A design and building team has been selected to make the center a reality. The team includes three divisions of Grand Island-based Chief industries.

The team was selected along with architects HNTB of Kansas City and Clark Enersen of Lincoln and structural engineer Martin Harper and Associates of Kansas City.

Sampson Construction of Lincoln will lead the building of the 6,000-seat events center.

Completely furnished and equipped, the center is estimated to cost about $35 million, of which $32 million has already been raised.

Groundbreaking is set for August.
