Lincoln police continue to investigate a growing number of home burglaries in the capital city. Many of these burglaries are high-dollar crimes involving the theft of jewelry and money, and they've been taking place since the middle of December.
Capital City police say the home burglaries are taking place during the daylight hours all over town. Police say they could use your help.
"There are probably five cases where they targeted specifially Asian families, but since then they have gone on to other demographics," said Officer Tim Abele with the Lincoln Police Department. "We are not quite sure what the shift was in relation to why they decided to go from one to the other."
If you have any information on the recent home burglaries, you can contact Crimestoppers in 3 ways

One burglary was in the 4300 block of Briar Park, in which burglars took more than $11,000 of items from one house. Another instance was in the 2100 block of SW 17th Street, when burglars took more than $21,000 of goods.
"Normally burglaries, they target specific areas and they stay in that area for one time, but in this case its all over the city," Abele said.
Burglars have typically been breaking into houses through the front or garage doors, Abele said.
"We're kind of stalled out on this case so we are hoping that someone can kind of give us some information, point us in the right direction, so we can break this case wide open," Abele said.

Don, unfortunately, LB889 is stalled in committee, even after it's had its hearing, and no Senator or committee selected it as a priority bill. Maybe Sen. Flood will choose it as one of his speaker priority bills, in order to break it free from Ashcroft's tar pit and move it to the floor for general file debate.
Looks like we need to hurry up and pass that home protection law.
