Nebraska authorities are investigating a house fire that killed an 85-year-old woman and injured a 57-year-old man.
The fire was reported in Alma shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday.
Nova Monk told 10/11 her mother first alerted her that the neighbor's house was on fire.
Monk said, "My mom said somebody's house just burnt down and its snowing ashes outside. So I went outside and there was a bunch of ashes snowing everywhere."
The house was consumed by flames when firefighters arrived.
Firefighters found Lois Clifton dead inside the home. Her son, Kurt Peterson, was treated for minor injuries at the Harlan County Hospital.
While many neighbors in the community of 1,100 didn't want to talk to 10/11 on camera, they told us they're keeping the family in their prayers.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Nebraska Fire Marshall's office.
