Lincoln Police officer Katie Flood says a duplex near 27th and Superior was burglarized Monday. She says nearly $2,000 in electronics was taken from the home.

Flood says someone kicked in the front door of the duplex sometime between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. while the resident was away.

During the investigation, police talked to neighbors about the burglary. Flood says one neighbor told police an unknown man had been seen in the neighborhood, and had actually come to the neighbor's door, knocked and then went away.

The unknown man is described as a white male, about 6 feet tall, and clean shaven.

Flood says this case is another reminder to remain on alert for suspicious persons in your neighborhood.

There have been several other recent daytime burglaries in other parts of the city. One burglary in the 2100 block of southwest 17th resulted in a loss of more than $21,000 in items. Flood says police are not sure if the burglary near 27th and Superior is connected to the other daytime burglaries.

Police Chief Tom Casady added that there are generally 1500 burglaries of all types in Lincoln every year. In 2009, police say there were 1272 residential burglaries and 365 non-residential burglaries.
