After an investigation revealed no misconduct on her part, Geneva Police Chief Kathy Skala resigned Thursday.

The attorney general's office notified Geneva Mayor Rod Norrie on May 14 that she was under investigation for unspecified police procedure violations. On June 30, the results of the investigation were released, and she was cleared of any wrongdoing.

Skala resigned her position the next day. Norrie says he was given no reason why she stepped down.

Geneva City Administrator Bob Higel says has begun the search for a new police chief. Higel says the decision could come during the next City Council meeting, which is Thursday, July 8.
