Lincoln police are investigating yet another residential burglary that took place Monday.

According to Captain Chris Peterson, the burglary took place in the 5500 block of Stonecliffe Drive, near 40th & Old Cheney, sometime between 7:30 am and 1:00 pm.

Peterson says the homeowner came home to find items on the floor throughout the house and evidence that the entire home had been gone through. He also says the rear door had been found forced open.

Peterson says the total loss is over $2,400 and includes clothing, laptop, ipod, jewelry and savings bonds. He adds that the homeowner is still doing inventory to determine if anything else is missing.

Peterson says that this incident appears to be related to the other recent daytime burglaries.

because everyone is at work. that and the neighborhood kids that are the only ones home are probably the look-outs for the people doing this. glad i have an alarm for when i'm gone and a shotgun for when im not. they'll eventually stumble into a third-shifters house and hopefully they know their rights.

I have to wonder what our city is coming to when these burglaries keep happeing. My grandmother's house was one that was broken into while she was at the grocery store. What makes it quite sad, is that she lives across the street from an elementary school, her backyard faces a church parking lot where people sit and wait for their children. This happened while parents were waiting there, and the people came in from the back door and left through the back door. And nobody thought it weird that people were kicking in a door, and then leaving with computers and other electronics. Somebody has had to see this happen to one of the homes involved, yet they don't want to say anything. "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
