The North Platte family of a Nebraska Army National Gurad soldier killed in Iraq says it now has learned her body has not yet been returned to Nebraska.
The family of 33-year-old Sergeant First Class Linda Tarango-Greiss had said they thought her body was in Omaha awaiting a release for a pending funeral. But they found out the body still is in Maryland.
Staff Sergeant Doug Greiss of Sutton says his wife's family might have mistaken early information.
Tarango-Greiss and 26-year-old Sergeant Jeremy Fischer of Lincoln were killed Sunday when a roadside bomb exploded near their convey outside Samarra, Iraq.
While the bodies have not yet been returned to Nebraska, Tarango-Greiss's family are planning a rosary and Mass Friday evening at North Platte's St Patrick's Church.
A funeral will be later next week at Hastings' St. Cecelia Catholic Church.
The family hopes the body will arrive in Omaha early next week.
