Surgery Lawsuit

A Kearney woman has sued her doctors claiming her gallbladder was removed in 2000 and they tried to perform the same operation two years later.

Fermina Sauceda filed her lawsuit Wednesday in Douglas County District Court in Omaha. The lawsuit says the human body contains only one gallbladder.

The lawsuit seeks an unspecified amount in damages. It names as defendants the Kearny Clinic, Dr. William Sorrell and Dr. Clinton Jones.

It claims the doctors did not consult Sauceda's medical history and had problems communication with their patients. The 59-year-old Sauceda speaks Spanish and is not fluent in English.

A spokeswoman at Kearney Clinic says neither the doctors nor the clinic could comment because of patient confidentiality rules.
