The ACLU is warning school districts across Nebraska: Don't force kids or teachers to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
This after the Nebraska Board of Education recently passed a new rule mandating that school districts set aside some time every day to allow students and teachers to say the Pledge. No one is being forced to say it. It's strictly voluntary.
The ACLU says the new rule is fine the way it's written. But they worry some school districts won't interpret it correctly.
The Lincoln School District says it's had no problems or complaints.
Every day thousands of school kids across the state recite the pledge, as they've done for generations.
