GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- The Hall County Sheriff's office says 52 year old Rodney Beckman, of Marquette, is dead following a collision on his motorcycle with a car on Highway 30 just east of Grand Island late Sunday afternoon.

A stretch of road near the intersection of Highway 30 and Gunbarrel Road was closed off for some time while crews responded to the scene.

A Fire and Rescue team was diverting traffic about a half-mile from the crash.

The Sheriff's Department says a little after 4:00 pm Constance Baasch, 59, stopped at he stop sign on Gunbarrel Road and turned west onto Highway 30. Baasch's 2012 Chrysler 4 door was then struck on the driver's door by Beckman's 2006 Harley Davidson.

Beckman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by NSP, Merrick County Sheriff's Office, Grand Island Fire Department, and the Grand Island Rural Fire Department.

The Sheriff's Department says the accident is still under investigation, and no charged have been filed.

Alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor.
