Authorities suspect accident with parked asphalt paving machine involved alcohol.
At 2:36 Sunday morning, Lincoln Police and Fire crews were dispatched to the 3600 block of N. 1st. Street for a crash involving construction equipment.
When responding crews arrived, they found a vehicle had hit a backhoe and asphalt paving machine, both parked inside the construction zone.
According to Lincoln Police Sergeant Randy Clark, witnesses reported two people in the car when it struck the machines. The road is closed in this area due to ongoing construction.
One person was treated and released at the scene by Lincoln Fire & Rescue..
Authorities are working to confirm who was driving at the time.
The person suspected of driving is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol.
Estimates on damage to the machines was not available. The car is considered to be a total loss.
