An alert neighbor helps Lincoln police catch three suspected thieves.

Just before 1 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 4900 block of Myrtle Street when a neighbor saw three men breaking into cars.

When officers arrived they found 19-year-old Cody Bernhardt, 21-year-olds Genoa Williams and Nathin Nicholas. They say the three entered several cars in the neighborhood.

Police say the suspects had several items commonly left in cars including change, sunglasses and cigarettes.

"The witness did a good job identifying the individuals that he saw. He was able to identify them so he did a real good job," LPD Sgt. Jeri Roeder said.

The men were arrested for theft and entering a vehicle without permission.
