Police investigate an assault and learn the victim fired a shot.

According to Lincoln Police Sergeant Dee Toupin, about 10:20 Thursday evening, Lincoln Fire and Rescue as well as police were dispatched to Risky's bar near 48th and Leighton Streets.

While responding, officers learned of possible shots fired.

Toupin said arriving officers found one man on the ground in the parking lot.

According to Toupin, a disturbance occurred in the apartments nearby and spilled out into the bar's parking lot. Several people fought with the victim. The victim was transported to Bryan West with non life-threatening injuries.

Toupin said police found a spent gun cartridge in the parking lot and recovered a gun. They now believe the victim fired one shot in the air.

Police are continuing to investigate to determine what charges the victim may be facing.
