One person was killed and five others were injured in a two vehicle crash on Highway 77 & Davey Road in Lancaster County.
The crash occurred shortly after 3:00 p.m., Friday, February 17 at the intersection of Highway 77 and Davey Road. Troopers investigating say the crash occurred when a1999 Ford passenger car eastbound on Davey Road failed to stop at a stop sign.
The car entered the southbound lanes of Highway 77 colliding with a 2009 Honda CRV. The driver and lone occupant of the car, Christopher J. Fayes, 46, Ceresco died at the scene of the crash.
A friend of Fayes says he recently moved here from Park Ridge, Illinois after getting a job in Nebraska. He leaves behind a girlfriend, father, family and friends.
The male driver of the Honda, Candido Morales, 46, Schuyler, front seat passenger, Sandra Morales, 37, Schuyler, and the couple’s three boys, ages 12, 7 and 5 were all transported to BryanLGH West in Lincoln.
The adults and two boys were transported by ambulance. A third child was transported by medical helicopter. The children were admitted with critical, non-life threatening injuries. Their parents were admitted with serious, non-life threatening injuries.
On Saturday afternoon, BryanLGH West staff upgraded both Candido and Sandra's conditions to fair. They did not release conditions of the children because they are minors.
The crash closed northbound lanes of Highway 77 several hours. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
