Lincoln Police arrested Johnny R. Rodriguez on seven counts of theft for stealing car batteries.
Police found Rodriguez and the vehicle used in the burglary at the Econo Lodge at 1140 W Cornhusker Highway.
Shortly after 10 p.m. Monday, a tow driver noticed a red, mid 90's, 4-door Buick parked in a driveway where it didn't belong. Police say the driver then spotted a man moving between vehicles at Val-U Auto at 3100 West O Street. When he tried approaching the man, the suspect fled south on west O Street. Six car batteries from cars at Val-U Auto were spotted by the front gate.
At 11:15 p.m. an officer spotted the vehicle heading northbound at 20th and Cornhusker. The officer activated his lights, but the vehicle did not stop. A police pursuit ensued, but ended at 27th and Theresa.
The pursuit ended shortly after 11:15 p.m. Monday night.
Rodriguez was also charged with one count of trespassing, fleeing to avoid arrest and driving under suspension.
