The holidays are a time to get together with family, but for some it can be a lonely season, many of these people are seniors. That's why Home Instead Senior Care wants you to become a Santa to a Senior.
Be a Santa to a Senior is a program to make sure senior citizens in Lincoln have a gift on Christmas morning.
Trees in 17 locations throughout Lincoln held ornaments with the names and Christmas wishes of nearly 1,000 seniors. These wishes are simple, like a blanket or a favorite candy.
This year's deadline was supposed to be December 13th, but two Four Star Drug and Gift Gallery locations have extended the program into the upcoming weekend for the Piedmont and 56th and Old Cheney stores.
You have until 2pm on Saturday to participate at The Piedmont location at 1265 S. Cotner Blvd. The deadline is Sunday at 5pm for the store at 5500 Old Cheney.
It's an easy way to spread holiday cheer to lonely or financially-challenged seniors. For some, this is the only card or gift they will receive all year.
To get involved, just pick an ornament off a tree, buy the items listed and return them, along with the ornament, back to the tree. Home Instead Senior Care will take care of the rest.
