Beatrice, NE Police say that William Snyder, 53, of Beatrice was killed in a car crash at the Indian Creek Mall on Tuesday afternoon.
It happened around 3:45pm in the southeast Nebraska town of Beatrice.
Authorities suspect Snyder was suffering some sort of medical problem before the crash.
"You don't really see something like this happen in a parking lot," said Lucio Martinez, of Tecumseh.
Beatrice Police said Snyder was driving a red corvette.
According to witnesses, the car was southbound on the access road, next to Highway 77, at a high rate of speed.
The man struck a parked car, knocking over a light pole, before hitting another three other cars.
Beatrice Police Sgt. Brian Carver said this kind of destruction is rarely seen inside a populated area.
"This is something you see more towards the highway at highway speeds," Sgt. Carver said.
Others on scene say they're amazed no one else was hurt.
"Bad as it was," Stan Meyer, the property's owner, said, "it's just a miracle it wasn't any worse with the amount of kids and restaurants that are around here."
Indian Creek Mall is located just off Highway 77 in Beatrice.
