The total number of cattle lost in the historic October blizzard is not yet confirmed.
And while farmers deal with the tremendous loss, beef consumers could also feel the impact of last week's storms.
The Nebraska Beef Council says prices of beef could go up due to the recent blizzard, but prices probably won't increase dramatically.
Ann Marie Bosshamer, Executive Director of Nebraska Beef Council said, "Right now we haven't gotten an actual final number on the total losses up in South Dakota and Nebraska. Without knowing that exact number it's very hard to speculate. But I can tell you that I really don't foresee this as something that's going to have a dramatic shift in prices of beef at the grocery store."
Bosshamer says that it will still be some time before the Beef Council knows the final number of cattle lost in the blizzard.
