The September 24th meeting was held at Madonna ProActive with dietician Katie Bolte. Katie had asked the ladies to bring one of their favorite recipes. The goal of the class? To find a way to make that recipe healthy. But before that, Katie had the ladies reflect on how they feel the program is going.
"Each of you has different goals, of course. Maybe you are focusing more on exercise more than nutrition and wellness. Or you are focusing more on wellness and stress management more than nutrition and exercise."
It wasn't anything shared, just a personal reflection.
Then, it was time to talk about food! With Katie's helpful substitution list, the ladies went through their recipes and good ideas were given. All the while, Katie was making a healthy bruschetta that the ladies enjoyed at the end of the class.
A week later, the ladies were back at Madonna ProActive for their meeting on October 1st. This meeting was led by nurse Sharon Duffy. The focus? Sticking to your goals in life. Sharon pointed out that, everyone has different goals obviously, but the one thing we all have in common? Overcoming obstacles to stick with them. Whether it is lack of time or stress, the ladies reflected on where they are at in the program and what they are working on to become a "better u." And, before the night was over, I had a chance to talk to 2 of the ladies on where they are at in the program. Click on the video above to hear their experiences.
