Another Note: Marlayna's Hair Design, Wigging Out and Wigs also helps cancer patients with their make up and extensions.
If a patient doesn't have enough money to purchase a wig they say they are happy to work with that person!
Chances are you know someone who has been affected by cancer.
In many cases the treatment can be tough and the patient loses their hair, but a business in North Platte is making those patients feel human again!
Across the street from the Lincoln County Court House in downtown North Platte on East 4th street, there's a well kept secret in a little boutique shop called Marlayna's Hair Design.
"I love that you can wear the style that goes to whatever your mood is," said Cancer Survivor Linda Hosmer.
Hosmer says it's that secret that changed her appearance during treatment.
"The first time I looked in the mirror after putting on a wig I thought it's an automatic hair style," said Hosmer.
She bought her first wig about five years ago and hasn't looked back.
The Boutique Owner Marlayna Blanchard says it's all about helping cancer patients feel good about themselves during a difficult time.
"We really like to work with clients right after they are diagnosed with cancer so we can have something fitted for them," said Blanchard.
In many cases patients can purchase a brand new wig through their insurance.
"A lot of woman they start out with one and they will end up with six or seven just because it is a different look," said Blanchard.
A look that changes depending on Hosmer's mood for the day.
"I didn't have to do anything I just put it on and made sure it was in the right spot and it's pretty easy," said Hosmer.
Marlayna says the secret is getting out as more people find out about the shop and try a wig.
"I always said it is a movie stars secret," said Blanchard.
As for the stars at Marlayna's they'd like to help others feel like a Hollywood Star, one wig one person at a time.
Marlayna's Hair Design Wigging Out and Wigs can be found in North Platte at 115 E. 4th Street or give them a call at 308-520-3803.
