Lake Wanahoo Under Scrutiny

By: Laura Berry Email

Grand Opening Ceremonies for Lake Wanahoo were canceled Saturday after the body of 11 year-old Bayden Martinez of Wahoo was found on Wednesday.

Investigators say Martinez had apparently gone to the lake to go fishing by himself when he was sucked into a spillway and drowned.

Though the area where Martinez's body was found was closed off to the public, but many still headed to the lake to fish today. Though people we spoke with say they were saddened by the death of Martinez, it won't keep them away from Lake Wanahoo this summer.

Wanahoo is a man-made lake located one mile from Wahoo.
