Lincoln Police have arrested a man they suspect shot a police cruiser.
Officers who were in the area of 14th and O Streets heard the single gunshot. Witnesses called 911 to report the shooter was running from the scene at the parking garage at 101 N 14th Street.
According to Captain Jason Stille, officers chased the man to 14th & Q Streets then back to Centennial Mall and into an alley before taking him into custody.
Police found clothing and a gun in an alley behind Amigos at 14th & Q and a bullet casing just north of the driveway to the garage.
Stille said officers began looking for what may have been shot and found a police cruiser parked in the garage had been struck on the roof and the bullet ricocheted into the overhead lightbar.
Damage to the light is estimated at $750 and an unknown amount of damage to the roof of the police car.
25-year-old Spencer Scott of Lincoln, was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm. Stille says more charges may be pending.
