A car crashed into a tree Monday afternoon near 61st and Colby Streets. The crash was reported around 12:30 p.m.
According to Lincoln Police Captain David Beggs, a car was speeding eastbound on Colby Street and bottomed out after crossing 61st Street. Beggs said the driver lost control, struck a mailbox and a large oak tree.
A 15-year-old was driving the car, three other teens were taken to the hospital, all of them requiring surgery, none of them had life-threatening injuries.
The driver had a broken leg, two passengers had internal injuries and the another passenger had a head injury.
Only one of the teens was wearing a seatbelt.
