Burlington Northern trains were stopped at a crossing after a woman's car got stuck on the tracks in Waverly.
About 12:30 Saturday morning, a call came in that a car was stuck on the tracks at 141st and Hwy 6; the main intersection in Waverly.
Lancaster County Deputies arrived within minutes and quickly asked that all train traffic be stopped in the area so the car wouldn't be hit.
Burlington Northern Police said the tracks are usually inspected after an incident like this; before trains are allowed to use that section of track.
No one at the scene offered any explanation why the driver may have turned onto the tracks.
One eastbound train was waiting near the crossing for about two and a half hours before it was cleared.
Sheriff's Sergeant Derrick Horalek said the driver is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol but this was not confirmed when we spoke to him.
The car was towed away.
