Car Washes Packed with Salt-Covered Cars
Salt is the best way to keep streets safe during the winter but it's also a problem for drivers.
The salt can actually corrode the metal on your car, causing serious damage.
Many drivers say it's too cold to wash their cars by hand, so automatic car washes around the capital city are packed this time of year.
A good rinse gets rid of the salt and prevents the damage.
Husker Car Wash Manager Bill Casl says business definitely picks up when the salt goes down, saying, "After it starts to dry off and the streets get dried off, especially if it's sunny out and above freezing, our business picks up probably about 10 fold so it really makes a big difference."
All the drivers we spoke to at the car wash agreed; forget the snow and ice, salt is the worst part of the winter season.
