Update: Former GI Firefighter Pleads Guilty to Child Porn Charges

Mark Fhuere, formally of the Grand Island Fire Department, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography charges in federal court.

Senior Judge Lyle E. Strom in Lincoln accepted Fhuere's plea and found him guilty. Sentencing is set for May 13.

Fhuere was arrested on May 31 and charged with one count of possessing child pornography, which is a class 4 felony.

According to Hall County Court documents the case was dismissed on June 25 in county court.

Federal charges were filed against Fhuere on June 19 for one count of receipt of child pornography and one count possession. He was arraigned on all charges on July.

A 4-day jury trial is set for September 3 in Lincoln.
