Charitable Giving Deduction Set to Expire

A deduction for charitable giving is one of many tax breaks set to expire if congress does not reach a compromise by the end of 2012.
Many of Tabitha's programs - geared toward helping struggling seniors - rely heavily on donors within the community.
Chandler Tyrrell, Tabitha's Director of Development, stresses that when it comes to Tabitha's donors, the reward is in giving to those in need, not receiving a tax break. "The majority of people file a short form and consequently do not list deductions," he added.
Tyrrell says he expects there may be changes in how people help out but he's hopeful that contributors will continue to offer financial support.
