A traffic stop for speeding on Interstate 80 in Seward County over the weekend led to the seizure of 58.6 lbs. of cocaine and two arrests.
Just before 7:30 a.m. Saturday, a Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) trooper stopped an eastbound 2014 Ford Expedition for speeding in Seward County (mm 388). The trooper observed several suspicious packages in the rear passenger compartment of the vehicle. A probable cause search led to the seizure of 58.6 lbs. of cocaine. Seventeen packages of cocaine were located throughout the vehicle. The cocaine has an estimated street value of $1,000,000.
The driver of the vehicle, Sonia Hernandez, 39, Norwalk, Calif., and a passenger in the vehicle, Freddy Hernandez Jr., 21, Dry Fork, Va., were both lodged in the Seward County Jail on each on a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.
