Lincoln Police report another instance where a would-be thief tried to use some sort of torch to enter a coin store.
Just after 3 a.m. Friday, Lincoln Police were called to the Piedmont Shopping Center near Cotner and A Streets for an alarm.
According to Captain Jason Stille, evidence at the scene indicates the suspect attempted to use a torch to burn through the glass door at The Coinery.
The suspect is believed to have been scared off by the alarm and was not located when officers arrived.
Stille said that there was no access made inside the store but damages are expected to be near $300.
Police are hopeful surveillance video will help identify the person responsible.
There have been a number of burglary and burglary attempts in the past few months at The Coinery. This is the second time where a person attempted to enter the store by burning through the glass with a torch.
