The defense attorney for Stathis Kirkpatrick said the teen plead not guilty at his arraignment Monday.
Defense Attorney Derek Mitchell said, besides the plea, Kirkpatrick also plans to make a motion for a psychological evaluation.
18-year-old Kirkpatrick will enter the plea during his Monday 3:00 p.m. arraignment in Red Willow County District Court.
Kirkpatrick, of Bartley, faces charges of first-degree murder, a weapons count, tampering with evidence and unlawful burial in his
friend 14-year-old Kailee Clapp's death. Clapp's burned body was found the evening of Jan. 21 in a Bartley cemetery. She had been reported missing that morning from her McCook home.
Kirkpatrick is being held in the Phelps County jail on $1million bail.
